Title: PINKS! August 4th/5th, 2007
Post by: lucky on August 05, 2007, 06:40:15 PM
Well we just couldnt wait a couple more weeks till the pinks start to flood our local rivers, so the girlfriend and I decided to head to the island for a bit of salmon fishing this weekend. The alarm went off at 4am Saturday morning and we managed to catch the first ferry out.  It was around noon when we pulled in to the pedder bay marina, while my girlfriend paid for camping and arranged the boat rental I took a stroll down to the cleaning station only to see coolers of pinks being cleaned up as well as a few chinook. Soon after and with much anticipation we hit the water, weather was perfect and we both limited out on pinks in no time trolling pink hoochies in around 40 feet of water. No chinook or coho for us but we did catch some nice rock cod and a couple decent sized greenling cod. Sunday morning we were out early but the fog was thick at times and the water was a little lumpy, three pinks got brought into the boat and a couple undersized lingcod released before my girlfriends sea sickness forced us to head in early :-\.  Lotsa pinks out there right now and still a few chinook being caught, also some decent halibut being caught, yesterday a guy brought in a 77lber. So if you can get out there now is the time to go! Didnt take many pictures this outing as we were to occupied keeping lines in the water.

sure look a lot better there than they do in October.   I'm jealous.  I'm grounded a week waiting for a part to come in for my boat.
