Title: How will the oil spill in Burrard Inlet affect the fishing?
Post by: Joe the Soccer Coach on July 31, 2007, 12:51:38 PM
Hello Everyone,

With the oil spill in Burrard Inlet (from the burst oil pipeline), how will this affect fishing for the pinks off of Cates Park?

I also crab just off of Admiralty Point across from Belcarra Park.

I'm tentative about fishing in those parts this August.  I would gather that catch and release would be the optimum option.  Would these catches - pink salmon and crabs - be edible?  Or would it best to avoid catching and keeping?

Thanks,

Joe

Time will tell whether the spill will affect the fishing.

Pinks should be OK, the rest I'd lick my chops and wait. The head of Bruurard inlet has had some nasty businesses there some years back. That caused me always to be concerned about eating the seafood from there. Time heals all wounds though.
