I've narrowed my choices down to the Lowrance LCX 27 C or LCX 28 C HD. I like the idea of the hard drive, but am not sure how well they're holding up. Anyone have any experience with either one? I'm putting one on layaway in the next day or two and chip away at it until it is mine. Otherwise, I'll just keep spending my money on little things and never save up.

I got the LCX 27C. It's working great for me. Nav. maps are read off memory card and there is internal memory in the fish finder. It's capable of saving GPS trails and sonar read outs.

Thanks, I had almost decided on that one when I talked myself into getting a bowmount trolling motor. I ended up getting the Minn Kota Terrova 80 lb 24 Volt with Auto pilot and the Co-Pilot. I guess I'll use my X-15 for one more year.

Have you tried out your bowmount motor yet? I'm thinking of getting one too.
Is the Auto pilot any good in keeping you in course?

Not yet, I put it on layaway. A buddy of mine has one and the autopilot is awesome. It keeps you on track at the same pace no matter how hard the wind blows.

Now that's what I need.
