Title: Any decent trout fishing lake?
Post by: fish_oholic on July 07, 2007, 10:39:56 AM
My friend who is new to start fishing in BC wants to go for some trout fishing in the lakes. But, in this july weather, I'm not sure if it's still possible to catch any trout. Do you guys have any suggestion about any lake that might be producing? We don't want to be skunked ;D.
Interior lakes are too far for us, any lake upto Hope is fine.

Good luck than. Anything below 3500 feet is going to be difficult this time of year. The fish well be down deep and lethargic. I'll be heading out next week to some interior lakes. Well be hitting lakes over 4000 feet in elevation.

Mike Lake, Rolley Lake. Do you guys have a boat or bellyboats?

Both can be fished from shore but Mike lake only has a small dock to fish from where Rolley you can walk around the lake to look for other spots. Another lake you may want to try is Buntzen.

With a boat i would hit up Allouette (tons of people doing watersports).  Or Weaver Lake.

There are lots of good lakes up Whistler way with stocked trout that come redily to a well presented bait. Check the freshwater Fishing Atlas for places like Brohm, Showl, Alta, Green, Alice, the list goes on.
Early morning and late evening are usually your best bets for warmer water temps.

Buntzen would be a good lake to fish since it is very deep and the water stays cooler than most lakes.

Could also try Foley lake which is in-between Chilly and Hope. It stays nice and cool through the hotter months.....

Daisy Lake just outside Whistler is a bigger lake that doesn't warm too significantly either.
