Go to the Skagit!
Amazing flyfishing only trout stream...
Pretty high right now, but August 1 should be perfectly wadeable for newbies to river fly fishing.
Cheers,

The lower Nicola is a good starter stream.

skagit is pretty tough for a newbie though but sum secitons are good

this is just a question not a comment. I was informed from a co-worker that the skagit was trout heaven. If u put an adams fly on you hooked enough fish to get bored. Any truth to this?

I heard closest to the lake is the best stretch. Any opinions?

... actually regs say "release all fish; bait ban" .... nothing about flyfishing only

all sections of the river can be good... down low by the lake has a lot of slower water... but is wider. I personally like the pockets and riffels further up. Its more a matter of personal preference.

It can get that good if your there at the right time and with the right pattern. But it's not guaranteed that one will have a day like is described to you. Best chance at that is the hour just before nightfall.
