So with the Vedder at the top of it's banks in the Canal - who has thought about trolling the canal besides me?
With the water nice and high, I'll bet the jets will be all over that river come July 1. The Vedder is definitely not a safe river to walk into right now. One wrong step and you'll never even feel bottom.
Probably be decent to anchor in the canal and back bounce big balls of roe. Probably good to run a boat up behind the Heron post along the bend.
I'll probably give it a try up there. Heck maybe go up with two trucks and an aluminum boat and drift the river down picking off all the nice holes that won't be accessable to the walk ins. Pretty easy to drop a boat in just above the Crossing.

I used to go to Wilson Rd on opening day with peach wool. Deadly. Small tuff of wool close in at the tailout. Loads of small 5-8lb.

is there anywhere you could bar fish in the vedder? i don't know if this is a stupid question or not. just wondering.

Down river from the highway. People do it there all the time.

Only problem is if you bar fish on the side opposite of the golf course, then you are going to have a long, long walk. That is because of the new gate which has been up on the Abbotsford side of the Vedder.

I've seen bar fishermen downstream from the Keith Wilson bridge

July 1st. guys used to bar fish with big spin-n-glos and roe sacks at the end of the road just above the train bridge also under the #1 bridge.
