Went out for a day in the cap. Started up river and worked my way down.... There was a couple of guys sitting in the top parkinglot that looked suspicious again. I asked them if they were fishing and they said they were waiting for a friend. I told them that there has been break ins around and to watch there car..... (although i thought it was them) any how i told them that the cops had the place under video surveilance....
Within the first few minutes.... Bammmmmmmm fish on... Landed a beauty.... slightly there after Bam again....This went on until they ate all my roe. I wasnt in the mood for fish tonight so i realeased everything... At number 13 however, i decided it was a keeper....
Not a bad day... actually the most productive day i ever had at the Capilano

Good report Jettabambino

rightonsky ;)
-
5lbs and smaller im guessing. They're small hatchery coho that are running right now
-
oh yah they were small...
but basically you just need to cover water....once the bite is on fish that hole till it stops... then move on again...
-
A 5 lber this time of year is a big one.
-
you know.. i didnt weigh any of them... but if i had to gues the biggest one was probably 1.5-2 pounds...
-
What time you started? Not good at all in the afternoon. Saw no one with a fish
-
2 hours after high tide is when i hit it...
-
Two hours after high tide means fishing lower river, and high tide now is mid-night. ???
Thanks anyway.
-
Don't have to worry about other fishermen at midnight except poachers. ;)
-
hahaha... I try to tee it up with that time... But as ghost fish said. i have seen then caught also at all times....
The cap is kinda finicky some time.....when i first started fishing i went 4 years with nothing..... ;)

There is a high tide just after 5 tonite if thats any consolation Steelhawk.
-
I guess Steelhawk was trying to relate to the great actions a few days ago described in the first post - starting at upper river and fish on within minutes etc. Never know you need to fish with the tide in upper river. ;D The high tide today is so so, not that high at 13ft range, not like 15ft at midnight a few days ago.

No consolation for me..went there at 5....fished for three and half hours...result....SKUNKED! :(
-
i guess this is why its called fishing and not shopping... ;D
-
Mid-night or early morning high tides are better than the eveining ones, especially only 13ft range ones. Try early morining, 5:00 AM, not PM. ;D

Hey guys,
I'm trying to figure out colors for glo bugs and also for gear fishing on the cap...
Is light pink better than hot pink? I was told pink is good, but which one?
Also, is Kelly Green any good on the cap? Kelly Green with white on top over roe works like a hot damn on the vedder, but the cap is a whole different story...
I'm going out on Thursday after work, anyone else going out?
I'll be gear fishing with some steely roe.
Cheers,
Nicole

I found peach and white OK, with or without roe or single rubber egg. Roe can be the ticket at times.
-
i got mine on peach yarn with some roe...
mind you i went out tonight and came home skunked
-
Flyfishermen at the Cable Pool use a variety of woolybuggers. Heard of a couple caught this morning.

Same. Unfortunately i hooked and landed one hatchery and one wild steelhead smolt. But i still consider that a skunking.
-
that'll get them moving around!
sweet!

ROE ROE ROE!!! thats what has been workin :D
-
heh, they didn't seem to want my partially freezer burned steely roe last night ;)
anyone know where to get good roe these days?
I stress the word good, stuff you would personally use.

Nicole

Good roe are practically impossible to find this time of year. Most of the stuff sold at tackle shops are crap.
-
I get mine from Coquitlam and it rocks (not cheap at $7.50)
nice bright red lots of sent
got me lots of dollies last week
-
Thinking of hitting the Cap tomorrow. Anyone heard anything else?
-
It's on fire dude! Cable pool was loaded after the last rain and guys were having a hayday.. Double digit days there!

I got my first one today!! Woohoo!
Unfortunately now I'm out of roe, that seems to be the only thing they want. Just plain wool was totally ignored.
Going back out tomorrow, once I find some good guts... Mmmm guts.
Cheers,
Nicole
-
Nicole,
Were you bottom bouncing with wool?

Nicole, did you catch it in a deep pool at first night or were you fishing the rapids later the day? Just want to know if successful fishing there means yawning while fishing? ;D
-
well I only get up at first light for summer run steelhead, if that helps at all...
Off to get guts right now!
