Title: Annual White lake Fishout

Every year various members of my family meet at White Lake at my cousin's for a fishout.  I never get too excited about fishing there because as far as I'm concerned the fishing has gone down hill big time from how I like to remember it when there were fish up to 10 lbs. with 3lbs. being the average.  My wife always has to remind me that the trip is NOT all about fishing.

However, this year was a different story.  I have to admit the fishing was much better than past years, the weather was a balmy 20+ (got to fish in shorts vs. snow last weekend), and I like the challenge of going head to head with my cousin, Alfie Davy (author/editor of the "Gilly" fly fishing book).  It's his home lake so it's tough keeping up with him but we ended up pretty even after 3 days of fishing.

All the fish were taken on chronies in the #14 to 18 size range.  Chromies worked best, followed by Black Sallies. My slowest day was about 15 fish and my best was double that.  The fish are pretty fiesty (Pennask rainbows).  They ranged in size between 14 in. up to 20 in.  All in all it was a good trip with very little to complain about.

Sorry, no pictures.  I'm finding that I'm not taking them because unless there is someone else in the boat to take the shot it makes it pretty tough to get a worth while picture.   Taking photos of a fish in a net doesn't make a great photo (IMO) so unless you kill a fish it doesn't seem to happen.

May i know where White Lake is? is it far from Vancouver?

White Lake is between Chase and Salmon Arm about 7 clicks off the main hwy on a paved road.  There is a large campsite there if needed.  From Surrey it takes me abour 4hrs. and 15 min. to get there if the traffic isn't bad.

I did the majority of my fishing on the corner to the right of the campground.  Usually,I'm at the far end (you need a gas motor to get down there).
