Monday night Mary and I headed over to deer lake in Burnaby mainly so she could try out here new pontoon boat. It was a great night, warm sunny and not much wind. As soon as the sun started going down the fish started jumping everywhere around the lake, some decent sized one too! We trolled flys with sinking line all around the lake but didnt even get a nibble. Closest I came to catching a fish is when one almost jumped into my kayak. Although I dont have much experience fishing dry flys I think that may be the way to go next time with a floating line.

you could even try trolling leeches with a dry line.

when the fish start rising like that, switch to a dry or emerger pattern...you also might be trolling too fast...leech patterns don't move all that quick...

thanks for the tips guys, will have to remember my floating line next time.
