Title: Lizards at Morris Lake
Post by: Blue Heron on April 22, 2007, 06:48:00 PM
On the hike out I caught a lizard in the rocks. It was hanging out near a Garder snake. I saw another one shortly after sun bathing.
I've never seen lizards in the wild of the lower mainland. Have they always been there? They are about 6" long and look like a small Monitor, Brown colour.

They are very common in that area.

That would have been a northern alligator lizard. By far the most common lizard species in BC but still a fairly rare sighting.
