well we have to think about it. Are otters supossed to be in there? is that a natural habitat for them (meaning that they weren't illegally dumped in lafarge) if so let em be. If not Geeeeeeeetttemm out!

Just wondering how they would get illegally dumped in there and what purpose it would serve to be dumped in there.

I say leave them be.

Should be lucky to have such wildlife so close to an urban setting.  Fish are put in there for everyone's enjoyment including the birds and the beasts.

BBQ them. I get the hind leg. Maybe make some slippers from the fur. There so many now some are going to starve and that's when they head for Lafarge. I really like them and all wildlife (except seals) but when they have no natural predators to keep there numbers down, you have nature out of balance. Not that I,m an authority on these maters just expressing my feelings.

I think there are too darn many people fishing Lafarge lake, maybe we should trap some of them and relocate them to Saskatchewan. Lots of room for them there. We will collar them and if they rerurn we will put them down.Maybe use leg hold traps to send them a message so they will remember where they were trapped ;D

Your logic falls apart if you replace "otters" with "humans".

Perhaps we were dumped here by aliens - should we be trapped?

Leave him/her there, it makes things more interesting. So it eats a couple stockers per day, big deal. Those icecream pailers eat far more than the otter. >:(. Being an urban lake, it enhances the surroundings for young and old to enjoy. If anything, it keeps the schools of fish moving around the lake. As long as the wildlife poses no danger to humans the otter should be left alone. To remove the otter(s) because people aren't catching enough fish at a put and take lake would be ignorant and selfish. Considering how many fish are put in Lafarge, I am certain there is enough for man and beast to share. Plus having a little buddy out there saying hi now and then is pretty cool.

really the way I see it is we control the number of fish in the lake when it is stocked, so we therefore should control the population of the otters.
I am sure a few families of them are good for the lake but if their numbers get out of control then it is a big problem rather than relocate a few otters every couple of years we could be forced to wipe out a lot at once if they are left unchecked with a endless food supply that we put in there.

what I am saying is there has to be a balance... the lake is artificially supplemented buy us for our benefit... we are that lakes problem.

Leave them alone it's not a big deal for now.Not stocking is not a good option we all pay fees so we can go fish, and lafarge is good close place to go when you just want go fish for a couple hours or so.Trap and relocate the plastic bucketers.
