Title: I want to go to Meritt/K'loops for the day flyfishing - anyone else?
Post by: Rieber on April 12, 2007, 10:56:29 PM
I wouldn't mind going up to Merritt way for some recent ice off fly fishing but I've never been up there to do so. I have a truck, 12' aluminum with an 8hp outboard and an electric motor. Lot's of flies and all the gear. I can cast and fish and I've been doing a lot of studying on the interior lakes so no real problems there at all.

I would like to find someone to come along who's familiar with the lakes not to waste a bunch of time and to share fuel costs.

I'm in Abbotsford and Wednesday's are about the only good days that I have this month.

Any interest from competent fishermen - nothing personal but no newbies please - not for now anyways.

Not really a good time. Allot of the lakes in the Merritt region are not open untill May 1st. Some still have ice on them. The ones with ice off could be turning over right about now. I'll be heading to a lake in that region on the first weekend of May. Will be going up Friday morning and staying untill Sunday.

Hey Rieber

Right now the following lakes in the Merritt area are free of ice:

Marquart (ice just off)
Courtney
Logan (ice just off)
Stump

Marquart and Logan should be very good right now before the turnover then quiet for a week or so. You can give the guys at Powderkeg a call for updates 250-378-9211.

That's what I'm hearing about the open water also.  Weekend day trips are impossible for me because of Spring hockey as my kid plays on two teams.

Wednesday is the only day of the week that I can do something like that. I would look at heading out of Abby at about three in the morning to get there and be set for the morning feed and back home at a reasonable time.

Anyone interested?
