Those look great.
I'm no expert at Steely flies but i personally like orange/black combo flies. I tie a pretty killer prawn pattern that one customer of ours swears by. Its all he carries. But i definatly love tying them. Your imagination is the only limits.
-
wow...i mean WOW.. ;D
-
Great ties JJ. Love some of those Dee flies. You've got some great shape to those patterns, and some great imagination, I haven't seen alot of those combo's ;D

Great looking flies ...

sry for the sh** quality

probably, I like tying my patterns with silver tinsel so they have some flash. If it doesn't work for coho, u can count on it producing for chum(they'll hit anything!)
-
either flash or a white under body for a good minnow look, but coho like flash the best
-
Jim, what flies have been the most successful for you?? I would like to see them and possibly why they worked???
I'm getting my spey gear finally, had enough of the 9wt. too much work for my old a$$.... Ever off during the week that you might wanna chuck some???
-
You bet Golfie, I'll bring the flies and you bring the cigars. ;D ;)
But really I like anything dark with orange or pink highlights its gotta be thin and have some movement, but very little flash.
anything will work, you just have to have faith in it.
In may I have caught steelies on fry/minnow patterns, and I have killed fish in the past and found fry in the stomach, along with cigarette butts and small pieces of wood.
so I don't think their very picky.
Have you spey casted before? Do I need a faceshield? and ear muffs?(to keep your hooks outta my nice ears.)
-
Nope and yup.. ;D but I learn quick... ;)
-
I have a few setups to try if you want, everything from 11' to 16'.and tons of lines to try.
-
Jim if u read that article i posted it seems alot of your flies will fit the bill!
-
Geesh! If I didd'nt read that I would be lost! ;D ;) ::)

Did my trade in today...Got the gear and a video...Ready to give her a try!!!

What rod/reel/line did you get?
got a scott ls-2 8wt, an airflow delta (?) with tips in a 10wt line and a ross momentum reel...hope to make use of that fancy a$$ drag system and won't be so freaked out about putting it down like I was with the abels...
