Title: Vedder Sat Feb 17th
Post by: TrophyHunter on February 17, 2007, 02:50:12 PM
Decided to hit the river both sat and sun this week for a change, seeing that I am heading up with Merc and XGolfman tommorrow I thought it would be different to head out on my own to hunt for Steel, when I first started fishing for Steelhead years ago I pretty much fished alone for the first few years until I met all the Wacko's on this site  ;D ;D
I hit the road at around 5:30 am and after a quick stop at Starbuck's I was on the road, traffic was light and I made it to Chilliwack in really good time ! I had made tentative plans to hit the upper first light and work my way down, but as I was driving beside the river a few spots caught my eye so I decided to give a couple of spots a try on the way up
First stop was a real nice piece of water around mid river , Xgolf and I have tried it before but for some reason today it looked really good  ;D light was just breaking as I made my way down the slope to the river and I was rubbing my hands together as I was the first person to hit this water on this day !! I started at the top of the run and worked my way down using chum roe, got to the bottom of the tailout and nothing  :-\  so I went back to the top of the run and worked my way back down with a pink worm and then once more with a blade, as I was making my way through for the third time a couple of guys showed up so I decided to go and find some new water somewheres else :)

Once again as I was driving up river a nice piece of water caught my eye , it is an area that I have noticed a few times before but have never bothered trying, I park the truck and work my way down to the water and crawl and scrape my way over some fallen trees  and get to the point I saw from the road, decide to keep the pink worm on and try a few drifts, well guess what second drift through down goes my float   ;D ;D right into the rapids she goes down stream, line screaming off my reel and finally after a few moments I am able to slow her down and get her turned around and back upstream, after a few more good runs and a couple of great jumps in she comes  ;D I would guess she was around ten pounds or so .. I beautiful wild doe to start my day  :)

after taking a couple of quick pics I send her on her way , I switched up to some roe and fished the same area for a bit and then headed up stream to see if she had any friends :) I hit four more great runs without a hit and decided to call it a day around noon, seeing that I am heading out again tommorrow I figured I had had enough for today.....

I decided that the one good thing about fishing by yourself is that you end up fishing places that you would normally just drive by, when there are three or four of you in one vehicle it takes a lil time to get out and try a run and then get back in so you just don't even bother fishing some spots, however I still enjoy the laughs I share with the boy's and the cigars just don't seem to taste the same when you are by yourself !!!

Cheers TR

Man I am hungry

Most likely like me, I sometimes forget to change the time/date when I change my battery.

A simple mistake!!

I actually made sure I set the time and date as you can see in the first pic :) as I was trying to hold the fish there and hold my camera at the same time I accidentally opened the battery cover and one fell out, I was amazed that I was able to put the batteries back in without losing the fish  ;D

Nice fish but the dates are still too mind boggling???the first one still says 2006. As for the second one your camera just decided to go back in time 4 years because you took out the battery? ::) Mine dosent do that and i allways take out the battery hehehehe. No matter what the answers to mystery is nice looking fish!
