I read a report on a guy this weekend who caught a sweet fish and it looks like a center pin rod on a fly Rod
What would happen if I put my center pin on my 10' 9wt sage?? It fits, I tried that already...It has landed big nasty pissed off chum so that's not a problem..Would the line damage my ferrules??? Would it cause any other damage??? kind of interesting feel to it...I'm going to try it out casting in a minute..

It might work. But you probably dont have a fighting but the size of the cork at the bottom of a Pin rod. And be prepared to need huge hooksets.

OK, the ferrules are an issue,,,I forgot they are that light...but...it does cast like a mofo. was really surprised actually how easy it was to flip it out there....feel is very light and while I have a fighting butt on it...there is nothing else...but the lightness of the rod makes it fine...I think you'd have to put on gear ferrules and a nice butt section if you were really serious...and I bet it would be a bada$$ stick...just don't have the dough to start messing with my XP to try it...and it's my only salmon fly rod... :'(

Buddy had a beauty little 9 footer that was made from a 9 wt. blank.
He had a levelwind on it and it was one sweet set-up.
Unfortunately he drove away and left it behind. :'(
