I went out to the chehalis today and didn’t see anything but chum and the water was still pretty high but the visibility was surprisingly good. Walked the hatchery channel and I could count the coho on one hand easy to spot the red ones from the ones with the growth on them. :P
Drove to the stave dam saw way more coho there as well as a few hard core snaggers, they left a few minutes after I got there with a bag full of DARK red coho but not over limit as there was like 4 guys in the group...(the fish were hatchery I was able to see them before they bagged em.) DFO officer came looking for them someone had called them in but unfortunately it was too late.
I caught a bunch of chum but no coho although I didn't see anything that I would have even thought of taking home anyways.
Today ends my pursuit of salmon on the river till next year ...bring on the pinks!!!!
Anyone looking for a steelhead partner for the Capilano ?
Thanks too all of you this year I have learned more about river fishing than I thought I could know yet there is sooo much more to be learned.
