Title: salmon on dries
Post by: Jonny 5 on November 09, 2006, 03:43:53 PM
Hello fishers,

anyone here ever try salmon on the dry fly?  or popper, or mouse?

I found this website and thought that would probably apply to all salmon not just in alaska, so let me know if you have tried it and if you will ever try it again  :D

I've never tried it but I know for a fact that gooey has. I don't know if he was ever successful in it, but he had some flies that looked very similar to the ones on that website.

That would be quite the challenge. I do know a spot that pinks might be possible when they are thick on the flood up north island. Might try it next year!

Yeah, well that video on that website shows a coho smashing a popper off the surface  8)  It looks like it would have been perfect for one of those settling pools or some other slow water.  Guess it'll have to wait till next year.
