awsome pics !!!, I love sturgeon fishing even though i have only been out once it was awsome!
-
Good job. Never been out sturgeon fishing but I hope that will change sometime soon.
-
damn, i have never seen a sturgeon so fat like that fist one! man thats a tank. Usually there long and slender. That one had one to many beer.
-
This is the time of year that they are fat. Filling up on chum gets them this way. Get out there while its hot!!!
-
Way to go Buddah, those beast are definitely an adrenalin rush. Words fail in expressing what goes on in your head when a fish the size of a telephone pole tail-walks at the end of your line.
-
We also had a couple of sturgeon first timers today. ;D Complete report will be filed later when photos arrive in inbox. ;)
Here is a peek at the view after the crazy storm left today.

fishingbuddha, were you around the harrison bridge - think I saw you.

Looking at the pictures Rodney posted they were at Hatzic hole heading back towards Mission you can see the Gravel pitt in the background on the mountain side that is the gravel pitt directly across from the Dewdney slough . And the boat in the background sure looks like Moosefinders . I spend so much time out there I can tell most sections of the river by land marks in the background . Planning on heading out for some Dino action this week as well I have had the Flu for a while but I'm rested up and ready to do battle with some LUNKERS . And you can easily identify that fishingbudda is around Mission bridge as it is in the backgound of his shots . Nice pics and fish by the way buddha your very lucky to get an 8 footer your first time out it took me three years to break the 8 foot mark .
-
Well Legend if you ever need some company hunting dino's let me know ;D ;D ;D ;D
I can only get out on weekends right now though :(

Would love to have more Sturgeon fishing buddies it's allways fun watching new people fighting the monsters of the Fraser . I will give you a heads up next time im going on a weekend your more than welcome to come out and do battle with some dino's . I have three Sturgeon set up's that can handle any fish the river can offer . You might want to load up on some Accelerade and protein powder before we head out ;D(http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n182/legend_013/DSCF0042-2.jpg)(http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n182/legend_013/DSCF0028.jpg)

Legend, that was on the way back to Mission. ;D
We were not fishing with fishingbuddha, two seperate groups. :) It looks like I have to wait a bit for the photos, so report will most likely be filed the end of the week.

I'm not a sturgeon fan myself, but I do enjoy the beers!
Nice fish, that thing is a total fatty!
Cheers,

Photos sent moosefinder. ;D Make sure you get a 8X12 developed and hang it at your office, I'll come over and sign it. ;D ;D

Yep, sturgeon is exciting to do once a year, but coho and other species are simply irresistable. The beer part, not so sure, wobbly hands wouldn't do so well with a video camera. ;D Marco had us well fed yesterday with all the wild game meat and sockeye sandwiches that he brought. ;)

Sturgeon fishing is just different than any other fish. Like barfishing. Except the action is way faster. You never know what size fish your setting into. Could be a little 8"er or an 8'er. Sturgeon have a way better battle in my opinion that most other fish. They are so strong. But to each his own i guess.

Found this pic taken in 1949 New West BC this is why I am hooked on Sturgeon fishing knowing there is a chance you could hook into one of these. Now thats a Big Fish !!! ;D(http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n182/legend_013/top2d.jpg)

Very cool pic Bill ;D

Great to see the newbies having a great day.
Nothing like watching those 6ft plus fish busting through the surface and that tail flailing around.
Was out on the 29th also with a couple newbies as well.
Hit a strong 4.5 footer in the first few minutes and then that nasty squall blew through.
We tucked in to a couple friendlier spots but not much happening there.
Once the weather settled we moved to a fav. spot and started hammering them.
Watched other buddys anchored beside us in there boats and had quite an afternoon.
Allways fun when you slag your buddies when they have a good one on.
The final fish was a 6.5 footer with a bad attitude.
We had to chase it a ways as it peeled 70 yards straight back. :o
First it tired Ron out and he passed the rod to Ted after the first 10 minutes. ::) ;D
Ted then spent another 10 minutes battling the fish before we brought it alongside the boat.
I as very surprised to see that it was only 6.5 ft. because it even looked bigger when it jumped and the spirited battle it had fought.
The last remaining boat was also drifting down the now darkening river with a another Dino on.
They got theres in around the same time and was also a nice one over 6 ft.
After the rough start was great to have some good action at the end of the day for Ron and Ted the Sturgeon rookies.
Just might have to go out real soon and try it again. ;)
-
that is a massive creature!, too bad they killed it :'( :)
-
Bill, I don't remember ever seeing that picture before. Did you find it on the net or in a book?
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading somewhere that the Faser around New West had a world record Sturgeon, but that was back in the day, and it was later beaten by a fish from the Columbia. Both fish were around 2000 lbs.
-
never been sturgeon fishing. Anyone got room on board for a kid lol
-
Dont know the fisherman, and dont member where I got the pic, but its nice to know that there are still fish of this size around ;D

I've never even SEEN a sturgeon, let alone fished for one (or in the Fraser for anything for that matter!!) Heck, I'm still new at the Salmon level!... Both my neighbor and I can arrainge weekdays off without too much trouble (matter of fact, we already have Nov 13th set aside for a fishin day!), ifin you're lookin for a new guy or two to show a thing or two to (or to laugh at!). My neighbor and I have been talking about it but neither of us have any idea what to do, where to go, what to use etc etc... Drop me an email anytime! scouterjames@hotmail.com
