Started out this morning at 8am, though a little later than i wanted to but due to traffic it was the best we could do. Just as we parked the car it rained incredibly, thinking "oh what a great start!". Got to the stretch of river and saw 4 guys near my favourite spot so decided to walk downstream of them a little bit. When we got there we saw a pretty fair amount of chums surfacing which got us excited so we quickly geared up. One hour goes by and not a single bite, dissapointed? Yes, but was still early. Before we moved around I decided to make a few casts and LUCKILY managed to hook one just before I was about to retrieve it. Good fight with lots of energy out of this small chum( the scream of a silex is music to my ears). I bring him to shore and the hook pops out just like that. I was told it was decent but not bright. About 10 min. after that I found a spot above some rapids that made me wonder if any fish would hold there and sure enough second cast BOOM Fish on! but a minute later hook pops out again. This kept on going for about another half hour or so and ended the day with a total of 7 fish hooked and none landed, but all in all not a bad day. Still a little early for the main run but will give it another shot soon since I don't have any school to deal with.

At least you know they want what your giving them. I got pissed on to today. :'(
-
thanks for the report....Those chums can sure be hard to bring in :P

I know what you mean. I went out on Sunday with the fly rod and hooked 10 and landed 3. Mind you, the three that I did land were chrome bars. I retained one. One fish jumped clear out of the water and my 12 lb. leader snapped! I wasn't even putting much pressure on the fish - so the leader either must have been damaged, or it hit a tooth. Also, it turns out that I was fishing near Merc and his crew! :D

Chronic, where were you hiding? Did you see me, in a white Sage hat, green vest a Bare breathable waders? I got there late as well, as I have a cold and called in sick to work. Wasn't sure if I wanted to go or not, but around 9:30 I was bored and decided to head out. Got there around 11 or so and after getting dialed in, I was able to hook into about 10 fish and land 5 of them. 4 Bucks and one doe. The Bucks were clones so I only had one pic snapped and the doe was the last fosh and I was freezing, so I cleaned her and got to the truck to warm up. ;D
Here is a pic of one of the clones. :)

BS is going to catch a cold tomorrow for fighting fish in the rain. ;)
Nice fish, big buck too. It is definitely an underrated species in most occasions.
How was the water clarity?

I would hazard a guess at ....... enough!! Actually, it seemed to be around 3 feet or so. Also didn't cloud up much at all after the heavier rain at times! :)

Water was quite clear and low. I think pound for pound chum are the best fighting salmon.

hi y'all...
was up there late noon with a few buddies and saw about a dozen other fisherman.....fished with short float and 18" - 24" leader.....pink wool.....in a faster flow of water....fish were biting every 5 - 10 mins with very few foul hook....lost lots of fishes but managed to land a few and end up keeping one....weather turned out perfect and as the sun was going down...saw lots and lots of chums coming in waves that looked like huge waves...pretty neat sight. Great day to be out fishing. Also tried fishing with pink spoon the last half hour before we left and managed to hook & let go one chum, the fish practically swallowed the spoon, will definitely try that again next week.
BTW..very nice pic of the fish.....
