Title: First trip to the Stave
Post by: OldTrout on October 23, 2006, 08:00:45 PM
I managed to get off work early today so caught the first WCE back to Maple Ridge and stole the car from the wife  ;D
5:30 and off to take a quick look at the Stave to see if I can find a fishing spot.

Got there in about 15min and the salmon were jumping everywhere, only about four people fishing where I was, one guy using fly and the rest were too far away for me to see what they were doing.

I tried spoons, silver and gold, crocs, mepps for about an hour solid.  There were chum swiming by my feet so close I could touch them but all were very dark and looked like they had been in the river for ages.

So here ends another trip out with my score still not off the bottom bar.

Well the score so far :
Vedder 1 : OldTrout 0
Stave 1 : Old Trout 0

says it all really.

Anyway I forgot to mention that I saw the commercial boats / native boats out on the fraser on my way home today so I guess there will be a lack of fresh fish for a while until they close the nets out.

Good luck all and I will be back for round three.....

All I need is another day pass and the wheels  ;D
