Well its almost that time of year again, time to start fly fishing different systems for salmon. What are some flies you guys use for chum??
-
Black, purple marabou patterns. big patterns. but pretty much anything
-
Lol are island chum harder to catch or something? I find it easier to catch 5-6 coho to one chum.
-
Popsicles, popsicles, popsicles. Did I say popsicles ? ;)
-
for calmer water like the Harrison - nothing works better than a olive wooly bugger with a gold cone head and some flash in the tail. This is basically the same fly that's effective for coho. For place like the Squamish I prefer bunny patterns sizes #1 through #6 - hot pink and florescent green seem to be best in that order. You can tie them like zonkers or just wrap the shank with a fur strip. Tubes work well too. Purple is another color some folks like. Egg patterns in hot ornage pink and red are also very effective - use those on the vedder and the chums will pull your arms off.

another vote for an olive bugger with a gold beadhead

thanks guys

I shoulda added that a lime wooly bugger with a silver cone head works pretty good as well
-
popsicles. fav colour combos, green, orange, and purple with a few strands of flashbou, and another is purple, pink, and white with a few strand of flashbou ;)
