Title: Jones Lake
Post by: bcguy on September 06, 2006, 12:47:57 PM
Hi, new to the board, but thought I would send in a small bit on Jones
Was up there over the Sept long weekend, and the fishing was unbelievable.
Trolling with a Willowleaf & Wedding band was the most successful, but also had some luck with a Mepps Aglia & an Apex trout killer with a single egg.
No Kokanee at all, but from what I understand, they are spawning right now.
The Rainbow were biting all day in the deepest hole in the center, any where from 8" - 16", and they were fat !!!
Trolling just off the shoal on the eastside were all the stumps are, about half way up the lake for the Cutthroat.
Around dusk the Cutthroat really picked up to the point were I literally couldn't put my rod down for a half an hr or so.
Was over on the westside of the lake one evening and heard what I thought sounded like a waterfall, but it wasn't, it was an unreal boil of Cutthroat feeding on the surface. The water looked like a whirlpool of fins & tails, jumping and ripping around, I have never seen this before, anyone else?
They must have been feeding on a school of stickleback minnows?
Love that lake for good reliable fishing!!!

Cheers!!!

It's almost unbelievable the fishing there most days. Thanks for letting us know they're still happening.

Well, the camping was another issue, we stayed along the east side, a few km past the private residences down on the beach, signs say no camping past the hydro site, but I dont see how it differs from any other crown land, or maybe it isnt crown land, but no one has ever complained, been camping up there for a few years now. I keep forgetting what its like up there on summer long weekends, just packed & INSANE!!! Drunks everywhere, driving & staggering, if you value your life or vehical, keep it off the main rd past noon. Reminds me of Tamahi Creek camp ground, up Chilliwack Rd, before it was brought under control.
Cant beat the fishing though!!!!! :D :D :D

Thats what I was wondering . I don't really like camping with all the partier's. Mind you a few years ago.  ;).  I also camp at Tamahi . I really enjoy Chehalis campgrond.

 Thank's again   bcguy
