Title: Drift on Aug 17
Post by: Jonny 5 on August 18, 2006, 08:57:56 AM
Hello fishers,

So a little report from a drift of the mighty bow river... Spent the whole day in the sun fishing the bow river from cowtown down to about 15km past the city.  Anyways, it was a great way to fish the river with some friends.  I got the fish of the day within an hour of launching, and spent the next 11 hours chasing much smaller fish  ;D

Anyways, heres a pic of my 24 inch brown trout.  My biggest brown to date (by about 10 inches)

Mr. Cinco,
Nice Brownie  ;)  What did you get it on, nymph, hopper, bugger, streamer?  This trout bum needs his brownie fix, may need to make a trip out to Cow-town in the future  :P

Hey Jony5, nice fish, I'm all envy. Have been out twice for socks in the Fraser but so far one hooked, none landed, is pretty slow now. Will be out with Kelly (BRC) and another faculty on Wednesday. Perhaps I should do my long-overdue visit too you soon.

Hey Fico!  you should come out to calgary and give trout fishing a try (maybe under the disguise of a talk?), its pretty nice fishing here.  I am planning to head over to the lowermainland in october for a weekend of nothing but fishing... I will keep you posted  ;)

Howdy CM,  got it on a hopper dropper, it took a #16 caddis softhackle.  But the whole day was acutally pretty slow, with fish taking everything eventually.  We even found a pod of maybe 20 fish rising like crazy to caddis and took turns hooking and landing them.  Cowtown should be re-named troutopolis  ;D

Johnny 5,
I like to argue that statement  ;)
Cowtown should be re-named troutopolis  ;D
I think Kamloops is the real Troutopolis, so many lakes filled with trout and the might Thompson flows right through it too  :P
