Title: Peg Leg, Aug 16
Post by: BH123 on August 17, 2006, 09:03:39 AM
Fished the Peg Leg gong show from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. Fishing looked good when I got there. Fair amount of fish being caught. The bite slowed down as the day progressed. Hooked and landed a spring within the 1st hour. Lost one other spring. Had to really work for the socs. Only managed one to the beach and lost one. Green, purple and orange yarn combo with a silver corky was the ticket.
I think the commercial opening caused the poor fishing as the day progressed. I saw more springs caught than socs.

(http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n7/BH123_2006/IMGP0799.jpg)   madness........  but I love it(http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n7/BH123_2006/IMGP0800.jpg)   looks like there is room for 2 fishers between the guy in the camo waders and the guy in the blue shirt and pants

I've got to try that combo. Though Socks and springs have been hammering my red wool presentation

Well said......I too am one of those beleivers that think the colour of wool is only used because it's the only chance us guy's can legitimitly accessorize with Pinks, purples, yellows, and neon colours.   HAHAHAHAHAHA

Type of hook is important.  Some hooks are better for hooking then others, sharper!  Should make up another name for Peg Leg,"Gong Show" is an understatement!  Wednesday was almost worse I have seen there!  I will never go there again!

I manage to avoid the 'GONG SHOW' so far.  I'd been fishing tidal waters for sox.  You are allowed to keep 4 per day. ;D :P

In salt water they BITE..BITE..BITE..BITE..BITE..BITE..BITE..BITE..BITE.

Ever try a hook with no wool? It works just as well! Plus you don't have to worry about colour choices. Nice spring!

Have you had much success in the tidal water? I'm thinking of trying the mouth of the Fraser this weekend.

I was there last night and fished for 2 hours.  Only lasted about 1/2 hour at the main beach.   I have never seen such a gong show.    I went down aways and fished of the dike.   Watched one boat get a big spring and another catch 3 sox's.   Other wiseit was very slow.

what is with the boats ripping back and forth showing off.???

Yeah I went for the 1st time there too.  Figured I would spend the evening there after the Mrs went to work.  Went over the Port Mann at 5 pm and enjoyed the traffic, but noticed lots of boats above still partaking in the economic opening.  This is probably the reason for the slowness experienced last night and maybe even this morning.  I'd be intererested in hearing how people made out today at Peg Leg and slightly upstream.  See you on the river somewhere tomorrow.

Cheers, GHC

Were these native boats?  I thought that the commercial fishery ended last Tuesday evening. There is another commercial opening this coming Tuesday for 14 hours!  Get ready for more vacuum space...
