Title: Sox - Aug 12/13
Post by: DragonSpeed on August 13, 2006, 09:03:02 PM
Late start on the 12th.  Mrs D and I headed out and got to the bar at 1545.    Things were hoppin'   We had our 4 fish in about 3 hours.  There were quite a few first timers that even caught their first spring  ::)   Others  - more practice....  ;)  Being done at 1900 meant we had a nice relaxing dinner of our Tim Hortons sandwiches and then watched the crowd fish until sunset, and then keep fishing.....  We packed it in around 2200, and could still hear "plunk", "plunk" now and then.  Geesh!   Other nighttime accompaniments included the crackling of rather large fires, and of course the requisite tunes blaring until about midnight.  I woke breifly at 0100 and looked out and about.  I could see a shadow at the edge of the river.  At 0100 for chrissakes!  :o   The moon was beautiful and near full and waning, but I didn't get to see it much until I got up at 0415 to fish again!  Mrs D felt it was a bit cold for her, so she just stayed in the sleeping bag.  (In hindsight...)

First casts went out at about 0440, nicely illuminated by the moon, and the light dawn ever so slightly showing in the east.  "Fish On!"  The dude next to me hooked one on his first cast!  I'm thinking this is going to be good!   Turns out that he didn't hook another fish all morning, and while Mrs D and I flogged the river HARD, we were only rewarded with one fish. (with net marks).  We all seemed to have been the victims of the efficent work of the nets today.  Hardly a fish to be found.  We called it a day at 1330.   My unbeaten streak continues, but my winning streak has come to an end :(

We finished filletting the fish and gave away/sealed/froze it all.  Now I am just plain exhausted.

Tough day to follow after such a good day on Saturday.  Oh well.  That's why it's called "fishing", not "catching"

I might be able to get some pics up (have to pack for a work trip tomorrow a.m.)

Tight lines.

I did some fishing of my own over the weekend. Managed to catch a decent number of fish but more importantly a certain someone caught their first fish ever. Better yet she did all the work on her own. All I did was put a rod in her hands and show her how to cast.  ;D

I don't see many fisherpeople dressing like that where I fish!  Who would care about what they catch!  Good job!
