I was just wondering If anyone could tell me when and if they will open up springs in the Thompson River
Thanks

Check the regulations on the Fisheries and Oceans web page as there is some openings for adults, over 50cm. One is at the mouth of the Nicola that is open, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from July 22 to August 14.
Before you plan a trip I would suggest you phone FOC and check that it is open as warm water conditions could suddently close it.
Jack springs are also open in other parts of the Thompson, 4 a day none over 50cm.

thanks so much chris, we can always count on you

I will be heading up there soon to toss hopper patterns at rainbows, maybe a side trip for springs is in order! Are they still in decent shape up there what works? Guts, spoons ? All help appreciated.
Regards,
Pat AV

im leaving tomorrow to hit the mouth of the nic. man its one of my favorite spot for short floating a slab of roe. the springs have to problem with taking that. its not uncommon to see people nail springs all day there. tight lines BOYS. and anyone else been there fishin recently.? ;D
o and i phoned dfo to see if they were going to open the mouth of the bonaparte for springs this year but there not because of the warm temperatures and bad returns. i cant see that being true i was fishing the bonaparte in cache creek with a little spoon and got a nice 6 pound spring.

They had only one spring in the ladders up the Bonaparte River as of last night. They are tentatively having an opening on Aug 5. However if they don't show any more signs of fish then they will not open it in that area.

how do u find how many go up the ladder?
