Title: Vedder July 21
Post by: Fisherama on July 22, 2006, 10:07:40 AM
If my name doesn't sound familiar, it's because this is my first post ever!  Although, I've been religiously reading FWR fishing reports for the last year or so... I figured it's probably my turn to share with the community.

I had the good fortune of being able to skip out on work yesterday (by choice ::)) and head out to the vedder.  I started out at allison pools and chucked roe for about half an hour with no takers.  Finally, i casted into the head of one of the pools and my float shot down.  I set the hook and was into a small jack spring (at least I think that's what it was...).  However, I forgot to tighten up my drag as I store it loose and i ended up loosing the fish after about 5 seconds!! I know...what a bonehead move.

I decided to head up to prison run and try my luck there.  After about two hours, I managed to hook onto a large doe.  This fish went berserk!! it spent more time out of the water than in! after a long fight I ended up losing it in a side channel as it got tangled in some logs as broke off.  Satisfied, I decided to call it a day there.  Even though I wasn't able to land a fish, it was great to get out.  I struck out during steelhead season (I think 0-11 lol) so this has been my first fishy action since Coho season last november.  I saw one other fish caught in allison in the morning and had a black bear sighting as well.  Good luck to everyone who's heading out this weekend.  Bring lots water, it was a scorcher yesterday.

Welcome Fisherama!!  Good first post, and I am sure that before long you will get into some more action, and perhaps even land one.  Sounds like you have put your time in and you deserve it!! ;) :)
