Title: Sturgeon July 21st
Post by: Coho Cody on July 21, 2006, 07:06:36 PM
Well today we went sturgeon fishing with THE ROE KID, my dad, my dads buddy and his kid, and myself. Started near the mouht of the vedder with 4 rods, each with different bait, roe, eulachons, ditch eels, and lamprey. The first bite was before all four rods were in, and my dads buddys kid got to bring in a little 2 1/2 footer. Then it was THE ROE KID's turn, and landed one of about the same size. Then we moved a bit and i got one around the same size again. Then once again, my dads buddys kid got one a few inches bigger, then we moved down river again, and THE ROE KID lost what we think was a decent fish. Then he got the biggest fish of the day, a 3 1/2 - 4 fter. Then i got a small one around 2ft. after that, a couple of missed hook sets and a few hits and that was it. ended up back down just above the mission bridge were we launched. all in all, a good day on the water with all the kids getting 2 fish each, and all our first sturgeon ;)

never got anything over 4ft. but theres always next time ;)

pics to follow ;)

glad you guys lost your virginity :o lol. just means you'll be in the shop buying new sturgeon setups lol. I bet most fish were had on the eel and lamprey? They seem to be producing best.

Thats great you guys all caught some. ;)

Was out last night for a couple hours and never even had a good bite.

Just wait till you get into something over 5 ft. and you will see what all the fuss is about. ;D

yeup ;). had a hit on a eulachon, and nothing on roe. we eventually got rid of the roe, and had 2 rods with eels, 1 with the lampreys, and 1 with the eulachon.

we were fishing near the mouth of the vedder and eventually ended up just above the mission bridge at the boat launch. and i dont think the mouth of the vedder is accessable without a boat. also saw some people trolling the mouth area for springs.
