Shimano Stradic, durable, smooth and light. It'll cost some money, but it is a reel that will last for a long time with TLC.

I buy cheap, salt water kills those reels, and I have no TLC left.

I bought a Shakespeare ultra light reel last year for a weekend of trout fishing.I paid 18 bucks for it brand new and didn't think it would last the week.I've caught lots of trout and even a few pinks and the thing wont die.It only weighs about 5.6 ounces. You're probably looking for a better make but this reel was a good bang for the buck. :)Good luck in your search.

Abu 7000 - there's going to be lot's available now that we can't BB for springs. ;D Just string it with 2-lb test and enjoy the challanges you have before you trying not to break the line on teeny fish and a reel with big torque.

A good reel i like is the daiwa crossfire. I love it, and the ultralight shimano one piece rods. But the crossfire is probably a bit to heavy for an ultralight, but its an idea ;).
