Fished Alouette yesterday from 8:30 am till 3:00 pm water was like glass till 11 then the wind picked up. Used fly's for the first couple hours notta tap. Switched over to an Apex lure in the Rainbow trout pattern and a Wedding band and worm on the other rod the Apex went on the down rigger to a depth of 45 feet and the Wedding band was trolled on the surface with a couple of small split shots . This was very productive as the action was non stop on the Wedding band to many hits to count and by the end of the day 12 Rainbows 4 kokanee and 6 suckers all catch and release went through an 18 pack of worms as they were hammering the wedding band set up. Gave up on the Apex not one hit i was hoping to pick of a Laker or Bull trout thinking they would prey on Rainbows must have to go really deep to get a Laker fished this lake allot and have yet to hook a Laker rumour has it there are some real monsters in there up to 25 lbs . Lots of bigger fish showing on the sounder near the bottom 170 ft deep but the action on the surface was fast and furious . I'm going to make apoint to try and get me a big Laker to add this to my list of species caught in the spring issue of the bc outdoors mag there is an article on targetting these lunkers I'm going to use there tactics this upcoming weekend and see what happens will post back then . I caught my first ever kokanee on tuesday this week. Thanks for your info.
Were the suckers all largescale sucker? Any longnose sucker? I saw a lot of largescale sucker in their spawning beds in the shallow last week.

Nice pictures. I noticed some Kokanee in the background - how did those taste? Did you try them for your shore lunch? Personally, I find Kokanee freshly chilled from the cooler being just fabulous for a shore lunch, expecially on those hot summer days. ;D

Straight across from the launch all the way to the hatchery has proven to be best for Rainbows 12 to 18 " . There are a bunch of spots along that shore line where creeks drain into the lake and I allways seem to nail them at the creek mouths . Also the narrows has been productive as well and have heard the narrows produces some good sized Laker's from 5 to 25 lbs . When the weather goes all crappy we will have the lake back to ourselves and the fishing can be great . On more than one occasion I have caught and released 25 to 30 Rainbows . This year the fish seemed to be bigger than years in the past I hooked a few over 5 lbs .

Hi, new to the board, but just wanted to ask about Allouette Lake.
Was up there last weekend, and I gotta say, what a gong show!!!
I kept hearing about what a great fishing lake it can be, I mostly just hike up there, and it was like a drug dealers convention out there with their toys ripping up the lake.
But I digress, does the fishing get better in the fall, or do I just need a day not quite as busy.
I am heading to Jones for the long weekend to try for some Cutthroat, any one think the Kokanee will be biting very well in Jones so close to spawning?

I haved lived in Maple Ridge for 30 years and Allouette lake can get extremly busy during the summer months but in the spring it is pretty quiet.

I hate fighting lakers. There like a moldy dead chum :-X
