Title: Aluminum boat repairs
Post by: JBB on June 08, 2006, 07:54:18 PM
My friends rivetted Harbercraft has developed a 2 inch crack in the skin. The boat is 5 years old . If anyone has any information about how to make a repair , either professionaly or do it yourself I would appreciate your help.         Thanks

I use old aluminum signs and pop rivet them on with some silicon underneath to keep the water out.

before you pop rivet a patch make sure to drill a small hole on either end of the crack to try and eliminate its line of travel. And a better product than silicone is call Vulcam. It is the same idea as silicone but find it out performs silicone in exterior use.
Good Luck
