Title: A few little trout May 21st
Post by: Jonny 5 on May 22, 2006, 11:04:57 AM
Howdy fishers, a quick report from the wrong side of the rockies  ;)

I haven't had much time to get out fishing, so yesterday at 7:30 when I got a phone call to go out to the mighty bow for some trout, I couldn't say no!  The river is up now because of run off, but still about 2 feet vis.  However, with the water rising, the fish were defininately off.  So I nymphed for a few hours with no luck, then when the clouds rolled in and the caddis started coming off the water I noticed some fish rising right next to me.  So on went a caddis and a stimulator, and within 2 casts I had that fish...

one hour passed and I noticed another fish rising further down my run, and 3 casts later, fish on and landed  ;D

Finally, it was almost time to leave because it was so hot out and my waders didn't make it any cooler... and finally I noticed another fish rising, this time fist cast, and this thing was a much bigger one, and really acrobatic.  Unfortunatly it came off near shore... so I didn't get a tape on it.  ???  oh well.

heres the second fish... 22.5 inches.  Not a bad days procrastination.

Very nice Rainbow!

I've drifted the Bow River, and those acrobatic strong-pulling rainbows make it easy to understand why the Bow is a world-class river.  You're very lucky to have that gem running right through town.  I'd love to go back there again...my 5wt got a real good workout last time with monster bows and browns.

Wow nice fish. My g/f lives five minutes from the Bow. Maybe I should visit her more often  8)

LOL...are you for real?  That river is so loaded with fish you could plop an indicator(or a dryfly as an indicator like a Stimulator) and a mico caddis pupa and catch fish every hundred feet or so.  ...or were you being sarcastic?

Thread hijacker!   But its true... I went to 17 ave (red mile)for the last game, and it was sad... no one was cheering, and there were no line ups to the bars.  The cops almost outnumbered the non-cops...  If that was vancouver in the playoffs, then I KNOW there would have been more true fans.
