Nice fish, thanks for the report
-
How small was the American shad, Joshua? What kind of bait was she using?
-
the shad was just a little guy, about 3 inches. she was using dough but she snagged it in the back
-
When you caught a shad before (I've seen your post about shad) did you snag it, too?
-
nope it swallowed my worm right down deep in its throat
-
Thanks, Joshua. Your report is always very interesting.
It is interesting that the Fraser has odd American shad. I hope someday I can catch it. :)
-
Wow thanks

I think there are alot of shad in the river right now. Yesterday they were jumping and making bolis like crazy. Every once in a while a big bull trout or npm would jump too I think they were be after the shad.
-
Are you sure that they are not eulachons or redside shiners?
-
Their not eualchons but im not sure if their redside shiners or not.

I was fishing the mouth of the Nic the other day, and observed schools of small fish, 2 or 3 inches long leaping out of the water in unison, like schools of flying fish. Oh mighty Rodney ;D ;D ;D, what were they????
-
I seriously doubt that there is a run of shad up the Fraser.
-
there is if u looked at the fish for the future pics from like last year or something it shows a pic of a shad

this is what she caught
-
It looks no doubt a kind of shad because it has black dot(s) behind the gill cover. And thinking about the distribution of shads it is probably American shad. Wow! :o

I was not close enough to see markings, but that is the shape of the fish that I saw a the mouth of the Nic.
