Subject: FN0243-Salmon: Draft 2006 Integrated Fisheries Management Plans - All Areas
The draft 2006/07 Salmon Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) for Southern B.C. has been released. The draft IFMP for Northern B.C. is expected to be released within the next few days.
The draft IFMP for Southern B.C. reflects fishing plans to:
- provide for fisheries targeting Fraser River sockeye while reducing impacts on stocks of concern including Sakinaw Lake sockeye, Cultus Lake sockeye and Southern B.C. coho. Therefore from July 1, 2006 at 00:01 fishing for sockeye will be restricted from fishing with leaders in excess of 24” and bouncing betty style of weight.
- provide for protective measures for Southern Strait of Georgia chinook and wild WCVI chinook stocks,
- provide for chum fisheries in Johnstone Strait and terminal areas throughout Southern B.C.

They didn't? Why do you think there are representations from the Fraser Valley Angling Guide Association sitting on the Upper Fraser Sportfishing Advisory Committee? It may help to read the entire IFMP before commenting.

Yeah Dion better watch out, 364 more days... ;D
I actually only read his comment not the quote, as I was just reading the IFMP the other day and didn't know what he was whining about. ::) Just for that, I may go ahead and propose the leader length restriction at the next meeting. ;D
-
I hope that won't apply to the fly flossers. ;D

You mean it hasnt been proposed yet? :o

So Rodney, it's been 730 more days and you still haven't followed through with your threat. Am I going to have to wait another 364? ;D

This is why I didn't get your license last night and not fishing with you today. ;D
