I was out looking for carp today.. All the bullrush and tullies are broken right down so there isn't a whole lot of cover. The water isn't very warm yet so no luck finding any, but did see a few other fish jumping. What's hanging around the shoreline (about 25 to 30 ft from the shore) in approx 3 to 5 ft of water?

Are you in Penticton? If you are, the channel that goes through South Beach Gardens campground is loaded with carp! used to follow kids that were feeding ducks and catch the carp that came up to eat the bread.

No I'm in the north okanagan. Where is South Beach Gardens though?

hey i was in penticton over spring break for hockey and i drove over trout creek is it up to its name?

South Beach Gardens is a campground near the Skaha Lake beach, near where the Penticton Channel enters Skaha Lake, also an awesome spot to catch smallmouth bass and kokanee.
And I've fished the mouth of Trout Creek near Summerland a few times with no success.

Hi,
I live in Vernon but have only been here a few months after moving from the UK.
I don't know if you are out looking from a boat or the shore Prettyfly? I'm guessing the shore from what you wrote.
I tried to go out and do some spotting last weekend but I'm stugling to find suitable areas where you can get shore access - but then I don't know the lake - perhaps you could point me in the right direction?
I went to the beach at Okanagan landing and realised that was not a good spot and then headed round the lake to the rigth hand side (as you look down the lake) towards what I think was called "Adventure Bay". Now apart from the public boat launch I came across nearly all the shore was privately owned so no access.
If they exist on Okanagan lake I was hoping to find some weedy shallow bays as I think that'll be the best place to find the Carp as we are heading towards spawning time (still abit early right now but I want to find some spots before that time arrives), do you know of any such areas?
I'm not wanting to steal anyones "secret spot" but you'd save me a lot of time by pointing me in the right direction - if you might be so kind.
I've fished for carp all my life in the UK so I know the species, I just don't have the knowledge of the water to find the sort of water I'd like.
Failing that I'll just have to rent a boat and spend a day searching the water till I find what I'm looking for - if it exists.
If you (or anyone interested in the species - I know plenty of people don't like em' out here) fancy some company on a Carp session I'd be good to meet up sometime, although I'd have thought it best to wait till the water warms up a bit, but maybe these Okanagan Carp are a bit hardier than their UK counterparts?
all the best,
cheers,
Paul.
