It is a scary world out there and this one very well known scientist is one of the over 11 thousand scientists who signed the recent global warming study.
He is very well known with decades of hard work and education. He has influenced us since we where children. I doubt there is no one in North America that has not been influenced by him.
The signatures are shown at the end.

"The progress B.C. has made, and still needs to make, is a lesson for Canadians. Any government serious about lowering greenhouse gas emissions has to put carbon taxes at the top of the menu. But it’s going to have to be something more than a modest serving, and it can’t be the only thing on the plate."

You would be better off “contributing” to a debate to prove what ever your point is. Should I or any boomer take offence to what you cauterized us as? Very good question. The anwser is no. It only shows who you are. Btw Blood, I have been found guilty of doing the same as you in my younger years and fully understand where you are getting your feelings from. And for your entertainment:)

Now, perhaps Blood, you can tell me why if co2 is so bad, why do greenhouses use it to promote growth? Question 2. Is it safe for the workers at the levels they use? Q3. Do organic greenhouse operations use co2? Now is a good time for you to sit down, buckle up, and join the debate. after all you seem to be young and our future. :)
You may want to ask how sport fishing tours are going to cope with rising taxes also.

Experimental data and modeling indicate plant growth attributed to higher atmospheric CO2 is exaggerated as other factors contribute as well and are unlikely to last as CO2 continues to rise. In the long run increments in atmospheric CO2 are expected to negatively impact plant productivity. The side effects such as increased mean temperatures and greater climate variability definitely will reduce plant productivity.

you should read the wikipedia article on Dr Tim Ball.l Amongst other things when Andrew Weaver sued Ball for defamation the presiding judge's ruling stated:
... that Ball's words "lack a sufficient air of credibility to make them believable and therefore potentially defamatory" and concluded that the “article is poorly written and does not advance credible arguments in favour of Dr. Ball’s theory about the corruption of climate science. Simply put, a reasonably thoughtful and informed person who reads the article is unlikely to place any stock in Dr. Ball’s views..."
essentially the judge ruled that Ball was incapable of defaming Weaver since he (Ball) was incompetent in the topic at hand.
In another case Ball claimed he has earned the 1st PHD for climate science in Canada. Prf Dan Johnson of the University of Lethbridge challenged his credentials and Ball sued. Later in court Ball acknowledged "that his doctorate was not in climatology but rather in the broader discipline of geography" and subsequently withdrew his lawsuit.
Yet even today Ball repeats the original claim.
You know how to pick the winners Bob!

Was plant production an issue during the jurassic period when co2 levels were much higher?
https://www.livescience.com/44330-jurassic-dinosaur-carbon-dioxide.html
https://skepticalscience.com/co2-higher-in-past.htm
much about the planet was considerably different 150+ million years ago.
The sun was dimmer, the atmosphere had a higher % of oxygen as well (hence the large dinosaur which wouldn't be able to move if transplanted on todays world). Plant life then was not quite the same. Ferns and ginkoes were prevalent and conifers emerged then. Deciduoustrees had not appeared. Much of the work on CO2 and plant growth has focuses on agricultural and other crops.
I don't know there is any evidence how the big spike that occurred during the Jurassic effected plant life .

“A lower level (800–1,000 ppm) is recommended for raising seedlings (tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers) as well as for lettuce production. Even lower levels (500–800 ppm) are recommended for African violets and some Gerbera varieties. Increased CO2 levels will shorten the growing period (5%–10%), improve crop quality and yield, as well as, increase leaf size and leaf thickness. The increase in yield of tomato, cucumber and pepper crops is a result of increased numbers and faster flowering per plant.”

If you think co2 is not usefull, perhaps petiion to have greenhouses label their poducts co2 infused 😜

Interesting and well written, but not current by any means. In 2006, the author (Don Easterbrook, a Geology PhD) predicted that the globe was about to experience a cooling period until about 2035, then mild warming, then cooling again. So far his predictions are falling flat.
As of 2017, those who made similar predictions are losing bets left and right: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/planet-oz/2017/dec/19/checkmate-how-do-climate-science-deniers-predictions-stack-up (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/planet-oz/2017/dec/19/checkmate-how-do-climate-science-deniers-predictions-stack-up)

I agree its a well established scientific fact that increasing CO2 will warm the planet. What is also well established is the earth has gone though some warming trends like the medieval warming period and some cooling trends despite C02 levelings increasing.
Urbanization also plays a huge roll.
However there does not seem to be a lot of solutions other then fear mongering and trying to make money of the climate change debate.
-
yes the temperature has gone up since the 1960s and looks scarey from that point to now. when looking at the last 10000 years, we are looking pretty rosey :)

I fully agree with you Wildmanyeah. The only fear I have is Canada's economy going in the same direction Australia is. Everyone wants more, but where do we think it will come from? funding will never fall off trees. This clip brings up a lot of common sense IMO.

The Root Cause of Climate change is undoubtedly population growth ! For example when I started travelling the world in 1967 the total population on this planet was about 3.46 billion ! In 2019 the population of our world is around 7.7 Billion . So in just over 50 years the world population has more than doubled!
Not only are their many more mouths to feed but expectations are much higher regarding home comforts such as heat & light plus local & world travel. The resulting stress on the environment to provide for everybody is staggering and ultimately unsustainable, yet year over year the world population continues to grow ! Surely control of the world population has got to a big part of the formulae for addressing the issues around climate change ?

Its very unpopular policy that's why you never see the major ENGO's talk about it. It would also likely cause massive deflation and rich people would be screaming their heads off as their retirement assists lost value.

I have to agree with you Chief. The good news is that it looks like we have time to work on strategies for the future. Crops are at an all time high. Hunger and poverty are at a low. The media these days has our minds zeroed in on one thing, "catastrophe", and not working toward sustainability. I guess good news does not sell, or is it, not many people want to hear good news?

this is the "confusing correlation with causation fallacy".
The root cause of climate change is burning fossil fuels most of which takes place in economies with low population growth.

Not true ! Please Check the Institute for Energy |Research at www.instituteforenergyresearch.org/fossil-fuels/global-energy-demand-and-fossil-fuel-consumption-rose-in-2018 and note the China, India and Other Developing Asian Countries such as Pakistan and Indonesia account for almost 60% of the world total in 2018 !

so what? That's apples and oranges data. You said population growth but are citing development and economic growth.
Even at that both China and India are in the low category of population growth. High population growth countries are mostly in Africa. Even Pakistan is about in the middle. Russia (#4), Japan(#5) and Germany (#6), all countries in the top 10 for total carbon emissions, have negative population growth.
How about some other statistics. While the world population may have more than doubled since 1967, the number of automobiles registered for the road has increased over 6 times. The number of aircraft flights has increased over 10 times in the same period.
What is automobiles and aircraft flights symptomatic of? Affluence! Both China's and India's carbon emissions reflect the rapid growth of a middle class. What defines the middle class? Affluence!
You should also know the IER is funded by interests associated with climate change skeptics and fossil fuel interests such as billionaire Charles Koch.
