Have anyone fished in the fraser lately ,hows the water visibility? Planning to.use lures to.catcg pike minnow coming weekend. Thanks
-
Did you type that with your nose? ;D ;D
-
I am not the best judge but the visibility seems very low... no more than a few inches.

Don't have to put the rod down that way ;D

That was a great call. Finally a good chuckle this afternoon.

Visibility?
It's the Fraser, the Big Muddy.
(Ok, that's the Mississippi but same thing)
It's on the big size as rivers go.
Certain spots will be clearer than others where creeks and rivers enter and back waters where stuff can settle but with the spit of rain we got over night a lot of dust will get washed in.
Not sure where you are but with Pike minnow (not that they've been my target species) they'll find your bait if you find some structure.

Taken yesterday near the Port Mann bridge. Keep in mind that water clarity changes daily and I have seen this particular area, much clearer just a few days ago.

I really like your picture - it's almost hypnotic - I can keep gazing into it expecting a sturgeon to slowly appear.

Cant tell if you are serious or not, but I have never captured an underwater image or video of a Sturgeon in this section of the river.

Ya, I just like the picture. Something about it works for me. Thanks.

Great photo! How long would you say the visibility is? I can't really tell since I don't know how big those rocks are.

Good visibility there was about 10-12 feet. Visibility also depends on where and which direction the camera is facing, relative to the direction of sun.

Wow. The part of the river I am looking at (in Vancouver) looks more like 10 to 12 inches. I guess it's much better under bridges?

Could be influenced by the Pitt or Coquitlam as they said by the port Mann bridge.

Rod's latest fishing report says:
"Tidal Fraser River is reasonably clear for this time of the year and it is shaping up nicely for the upcoming pink salmon season. Lure fishing for northern pikeminnow should be very good and it is a good practice for the upcoming pink salmon fishing season."
Have you guys had any luck with spoons and spinners yet?

I only have salmon spoons and line, no pike minnow gear ;D

I got 1 on a spinner-worm combo yesterday evening but it was in a slough draining into the lower Pitt where the water is clearer. Vis in the Pitt is still quite lousy for lures..a bottom rig with worm will work very well there.
-
Lower Pitt was around 2 ft vis under the highway bridge on the PM incoming tide
-
So far the pikeminnow have ignored all my spoons and spinners regardless of colour or shininess.
-
I saw gary point park has some good action with spinner 2 days ago

Was fishing the Squamish over the weekend. Watched 11 landed. I personally did not land. The river was stacked shoulder to shoulder.
