Title: JW Young Seldex/Rapidex lhw?
Post by: Banny on October 27, 2011, 05:25:46 PM
Can these vintage centerpin reels be fished either LHW or RHW or are they like the Hardy Silex and only fishable RHW?

Thanks,

Jordan

They freespool with no drag system so it should work either way.

it should work either hand maybe with only 2 things in mind. Comparing it to the Milners swapping around a RH reel to use with your left hand just means your clicker will be facing forward. Another thing to consider, in comparison with the talisman is that it has a one way clicker. Normally when the fish pulls you will hear the click but when you reel, you dont hear anything, so if you are travelling with the reel when you engage the click it wont hold on to your rig.

JW Young reels click both ways.

The JW Youngs do not have a check-lever like the Milners or Silex's. Therefore they can be fished either way.
