Title: Any NFL fans?
Post by: SMo007 on August 27, 2009, 02:30:48 PM
Hi All.New to the forum. Thought I would see if there are any NFL fans on here, as the season is just around the corner. Tell us who your team is and how you think they'll do this year. And of course a little friendly ribbing is always welcome, but let's keep if civil.

I'll start the fireworks. I'm a Cowboys fan.(that usually sets off everybody that isn't a cowboys fan) Been a fan since '82, all through the glorious 90's and the last 10+ years that we won't talk about. I think they will be better this year without TO, but the NFC East is always tough and you never really know how it's going to shake out. I think we make the playoffs as a wildcard and, who knows, maybe even get our first playoff win in forever.

Hardcore Broncos fan. Even have Broncos tattoos on me. Like every other Broncos fan I am mad. They basically gave Cutler away for nothing. Orton is a bum, the defense is young ( improving though through the draft ) but this is a rebuilding year. I am going to guess they finish 6-10. As long as they finish ahead of the Raiders I am happy. The Chargers will win that division with ease.

Eagles will win the NFC East, the Cowgirls will be second. The Giants and Redskins will suck.

I think your pretty much bang on about the broncos. It's going to be a long frustrating year for broncos fans. I'm not sure what to think about the Raiders. I mean with all those top 10 picks you figure they have to get better as some point. I don't see them challenging for the division title, but I can see them in the wildcard hunt. And as much as I hate to admit it, I think you are right about the Eagles being the favorite going into the season. Maybe Vick will play well enough to create a QB controversy and it will divide the locker room and sink the team. ;)

Not likely on the Vick situation. Dont forget he is suspended for the first 6 games. Also did you see him play tonight? They lined him up all over the field. Everytime Vick was out there so was McNabb. They are going to use Vick all over the place to confuse opposing defenses. It will work too LOL

Raiders problems are two words....AL DAVIS!!!

I feel for you. Not because your a bills fan, but because you came so close on so many occasions back in the early nineties, and came up empty each time. That must have been a hard pill to swallow, over and over and over. ;) I haven't heard much of anything, good or bad, about TO this preseason. What has been the overall impression of him in Buffalo Nation, and do they think he'll be a help or a hindrance?

TO has been nursing an injury and has not been playing in the preseason. Trent Edwards has looked badly in preseason. TO is going to have less catches with a very average QB throwing to him.

I am a Redskins fan. I have been for 25 years. Not much to cheer about the last few years. All that matters is that they beat the Cowboys this year. ;D

Cowboy's all the way - must be their cheerleaders

In that case it looks like it's going to be another year with not much to cheer about.  ;)

Mind you with the NFC East you just never know. I still remember that Monday Nighter in Washington, back in the 1989 season when Dallas went 1-15. I'm sure you remember that one as well. ;D

We're everywhere! And yes the girls are the icing on the cake. I was at the Bengals game last year and at halftime it was to celebrate the cheerleaders 25th anniversary. They had about 200 cheerleaders there going all the way back to the original season. After the game we were in the coral having a few pints and alot of them were mingling in there. Talk about eye candy. Even some of the older girls(and by old I'm talking about 30's 40's) were still very hot. It was a most enjoyable day.

I'm a huge Pats fan. Now I will brace myself and await the onslaught of bandwagon comments.

The question with Pats fans is how long have you been a fan. Seems like most Pats fans became fans about 10 or so years ago, which is why they are considered some of the worst bandwagon fans in the league. I became a Cowboys fan, and really got into the NFL, in 82 and growing up I never met many, if any, people who said they were pats fans. Of course in no way am I suggesting that you are one of those fans. ;)

Same as they blew chunks and had terrible jerseys LOL

Been a Broncos fan since I was young playing PeeWee football. I will even deal with this current mess they are in. First the Jay Cutler fiasco now the Brandon Marshall Soap Opera. Gotta take the good times with the bad. Hey could be worse could be a Raiders or Lions fan LOL

Surely you don't mean "Patriot Pat" do you? ;) I always thought that was one of the worst team logos. Just my opinion though.

What do you think is going to happen with Marshall? I heard the Jets inquired about trading for him and the Broncos told them they are not trading him. I can't see them expecting him to play and be happy or productive based on what has happened. That's if he even plays at all.

Well if he is not productive he is only hurting himself. He is still under contact so he has to play if told to or be suspended AGAIN!! He is a dumbass. He is always in trouble but yet thinks he deserves something. Sure he is a great player BUT if he has this attitude is it worth it? I would be happy to see them get a high draft pick for him. Eddie Royal has had an amazing pre season so he can be a #1 if he needs to be.

I just wish he would be traded so the soap opera can be over

Been a fan of the Pats before they were ever good. Around 94 when I was playing high school ball. I played CB/Safety and loved the combo of Ty Law & Lawyer Milloy.

I have to admit I was a Ty Law fan, and when there were rumors of him coming to Dallas a few years back I was pretty excited.

OK. With only 3 preseason games left, the real season starts next week. Let's see what you think your team's record is going to be. And for all the other posts, tell us if you think he's accurate with an over or under. I'll start. I think Dallas splits the division and goes 6-4 in the remaining games. My heart says 10 but my head says 9. Of course there is always the chance we could sweep the Deadskins, right Tumbleweed. ;)

Dallas = 9 Wins

Wont be a problem since Romo is no longer with that very intelligent blonde girl LOL

Patriots wont win 13 games. They have offensive line problems. Brady is going to feel the heat this year. Cassell was the most sacked QB last year. They also have no running game. Teams are going to blitz the heck out of the Patriots and get to Brady. If he gets hurt who is their QB??

Their running game is their passing game. Will see a lot of shotgun and quick passes to Welker across the middle. After a few hook ups with Moss, teams will be second guessing the blitz. I do agree with the no back up QB problem.

I'm sure she was fine to bounce around on, or at least she was until she ate a rhino, but thank god she is gone.

I don't think they win 13 either so I say under. In fact I don't think any team on either side wins 13 this year.

The skins will struggle again, I think they will win 8. 2 of the 8 wins will be against the boys. :P

Another Cowboys fan here I've been watching them  since Don Meredith was quarterback so I go way back . I'm hoping they make they playoffs but the NFC east is going to be pretty tough this year. I figure the Cowboys should win 9 games this year but who knows  the injuries are already pileling up and the Cowboys  depth looks pretty thin in some areas.
The only problem I have with the Cowboys is with Jerry Jones I'd be much happier if he stuck with owning and quit meddling with the draft and the coaches. Wade makes a great defensive coordinator but Falls short as a head coach,
My predictions for the NFC for what there worth  #1Eagles #2 Giants  #3 Falcons #4 Cardinals
#5 Packers and Cowboys tie with 9 and 7 records

That's actually two problems. ;) Unfortunately for Cowboys fans you are right about both. I don't know why everybody thinks Philly is the Sexy pick this year; I just don't see it. I guess we'll start finding out in a couple of days. ;D

How about that stupid multi million dollar HD Screen that Jones put up. The punters are hitting it LOL What a dumbass

Ever since Jerry got rid of Jimmy Johnson I have not been a fan of most of the decisions he has made, but i have to defend him on this one. He asked the NFL what was the height he could hang the screen and the NFL determined it was 85'(might not be feet but it doesn't matter). So Jerry hung the screen at 90' to give himself some wiggle room. The titans kicker, who so far is the only one to hit it, by his own admission was aiming more up instead of forward which is why he hit it. Under normal kicking circumstances he said he would be trying for more forward direction then height. So you can call him a dumbass for alot of his draft and personnel decisions, his constant meddling, and most importantly for getting rid of Jimmy and costing the Cowboys the 3rd of 4 superbowls in a row(maybe more), but it looks like he might be in the clear on this issue

Using the spread as you said

Ten v Pitt -5.5 - Ten
Mia v Atl -4.0 - ATL
KC v Bal -8.5 - BAL
Phi v Car -2.5 - PHI
Den v Cin -1.0 - Den
Minn -2.0 v Cle - MINN

The broncos I knew you'd pick, even when Dallas was terrible I always held onto that faint hope that they can do it. As for Tennessee, I think they'll have a very good defense, but I just don't see them scoring much. Thankfully we don't have to wait any longer to find out.
