« on: June 03, 2005, 12:17:26 AM »

Hi, do you cast into mid river in Fraser north arm when fishing for salmon or more to the edge?

Thank you

Personally, I have caught most of my salmon (pink, coho, chum) within 20 feet from shore, sometimes as close as 2 feet. :o It really depends on the locations. I've also seen people catching them way out there...

The farther you cast into the river the stronger the current, the more your line will drift, which means more chances of getting snagged up. There are alot of snags on the north arm so I usaully use a single hook bar rig setup with a 2oz pencil weight on the bottom. And cast pretty close to shore, if you bar rig is bouncing along bottom you probably casted too far or dont have enough weight on.
