The trick with the forced air is a good idea.I got one of Don Cambell's custom made reels last year.He takes great effort to run them in first.
 I was having a load up issue as well and he recommended what he uses.Air tool oil.It is very durable and has a low viscosity.Works great and is cheap like borscht!

I've always had great success with a small piece of bacon on the bushing.
