tackle shops down south
« on: September 13, 2008, 12:59:27 AM »

guys, i am making a trip to WA next week, and i am planning to buy some tackles to fill my fishing needs there.  Any recommendation or information regarding the tackle shops there?  I have never been to one, but i heard it was way cheaper there though. Thanks in advance. :)

The best store to go to for price is Sportsman warehouse.  I just bought Columbia breathable waders there for 60$.  They have everything.  If you don't mind driving further you gotta check out Cabela's.  Sweet Store!  They have two of everything and you can shop for boats there.  It's Ikea for men.   Also check out some of the huge rainbows they got in their tank in the middle of a mountain in the middle of the store.
It's really worth it to make it an overnite trip and add in some red lobster for dinner.
Closest Sportsman warehouse is in Burlington and Cabelas is in Lacey.

I'd also look at Joe's.  Between sportsman's, Joes and Cabela's, you'll find everything.  The big bonus is that the prices are WAY cheaper than up there.

Lots of saltwater stuff in the Olympia store.  Not bad, but I was a bit disappointed.  It's still not a huge store like their mid-west stores.  It is still cool to look at the stuff you've only seen in the catalog.

First visit to cableas is normally 5-6 hours on average I've been told  ;D I met a guy down in the states that spends 3 hours every time he goes there. Sportsman's wearhouse is an awesome store as well. Sportsman's has the lowest prices that I have found, but havn't been to Cabela's yet. Have fun  ;)

cabela is a bit far... if you are stayng close, then sportsman warehouse is a must.  It has much better selection than Joe's...

Check out the new curado E7...  It is sweet for the price...  And the reel is packed with goodies...

I consistently buy Kwikfish K15 and K16 in custom colors for under $3 and Mag warts for under $2 at Joes.  If you're a Cabelas fan, definitely schedule 4+ hours to go through it.

Don't know how I forgot Sportco in Fife and Outdoor Emporium in Seattle S. of Safeco field.  They claim to have larger inventories than Sportsman's and Joe's.  They also have low price guarantees.

Oh yeah, outdoor emporium is good as well.  Though the fresh water reel selection is fair more in Sportsman's warehouse.
