Title: Freds Grand opening
Post by: Wiseguy on June 25, 2018, 04:59:45 PM
Now that the dust has settled. I thought the Freds Grand opening this past weekend was pretty decent. On Saturday morning it was packed. I could not find a parking spot! Lol. I went back on Sunday as there were less people. They had draws every hr for free swag. A Bbq by donation. Fly casting lessons. Tackle reps were present and Fred was there greeting customers. Brian and Tony look a lot younger now with thier clean cuts looks. Ha ha. Nice to have them back in a store closer to the river.

Great location and the store is just the right size. For local anglers it's nice to have it so close by again and it'll serve out of town anglers really well this fall when the Vedder picks up.

I agree. Locals will have a weigh in station for the Wally Hall derby now as well.

Where is it located - near their old shop by the crossing?

6336C Vedder Road. It's just north of Promontory Road intersection. There is plenty of parking at the shop, you can also park at the lot next to it where Timmy's, Subway etc are in. It's also easier to get out to head south to the river from that lot.

I wish them well but having been in the tackle trade I know how tough it is and that was just as internet sales were taking off it must be that much tougher now-plus two stores is more than twice as much work.

Yup retail is hell.  People will go to the store to check out the merchandise bit make their purchase on-line.  Retail is a dying business.

Generally, people are very short sighted.

It's a shame that it is. I love nothing more than to touch a product, try something on before I buy and have the opportunity to have an item asap. I hope retail never goes away. I guess I'm a tad old fashioned
