Title: Murphy lake 2
Post by: ricer on February 04, 2011, 11:50:57 AM
Anybody know how to get into this lake?  Last fall we tried to get into this lake (from the road that angles down south off of the west side of the lake) and got within 100yards when we hit a locked gate.  Didn't know this was private land.  We were able to get to Murphy 1 but didn't have our float tubes and it is a little bit of a walk through some trees to get in there.  We tried to get into Murphy from the road that goes around the east side of Murphy 1 but came to a dead end.

you can only portage to the second lake. so unless you have a small boat and a couple friends help you carry it... or float tubes your pretty much out of luck.

that is what we planned on trying this year if we couldn't figure it out.

we have pontoon boats but when we went last time we took a pram.

still... does anyone know why or what is murphy 2 gated for?

You gotta take the Grasshopper Rd about 3 km before the lakes, it leads to as primitive campground and a short trail into the first lake from the first lake you have to portage to the second as mentioned above.

we did make it to the first lake but didn't bring the tubes so we went to another lake.

is it worth trying the second lake?  it must get less pressure.
