Title: Mounting Scotty mounts to Lowe 1040
Post by: Hike_and_fish on May 17, 2020, 12:26:12 PM
just wondering if someone out there had a better idea than me. I recently purchased a Lowe 1040 and there is not a lot of room ( or stability) at the bow to place any scotty mounts for my anchor. I did see one guy at the lake this weekend withheld same boat but he had a custom spacer installed so he could place his mounts in that location. Now, without me  machining a custom UHMW block to place a mount, I jave no idea what to do. Anyone have any ideas ?

Gunnels on the 1040 are too thick for Scotty mounts to be used without modification. You dont necessarily need a 'custom' spacer though, a block of wood of sufficient thickness will work. May not look too pretty though.

I've seen flushmounts installed at the bow but it's very flimsy, as you note. I saw one guy with a 1240 and a split bow and he said it happened when he was dropping anchor and it locked up.
