Servicing a Merc 4.5 2 stroke
« on: July 03, 2012, 10:53:12 AM »

Hi all, I just picked up a Merc 4.5 2 stoke that has been for the most part sitting in a covered area for the last few years.

Although the previous owner told my good friend who found it for me, it starts with very little effort, can anyone of you good people recommend where to take it to be properly serviced, keeping in mind I am basically useless when it comes to anything mechanical:).

I live in North Delta.

Thks very much.

I just brought my 5hp 2 stroke merc to a place by Costco in Langley.

Flushed it out.  Cleaned the carb, new fuel filter, lubed it up, new gear oil.  Runs like a top after sitting for three years.  Cost $150 total, for parts, labour and taxes.

Bit of a trek for your from Delta, but thats where I went and was satisfied.  Friendly staff.

Bridgeview might work for you.  I personally have no experience there, but I launch across the street from them sometimes.  lol
