Red Lake info
« on: June 30, 2012, 10:57:32 PM »

Hey there guys,

I was looking for a little info for the road going up to Red lake in the Thomson-Nicola valley from Kamloops side. Is it 2WD accessible? I am driving a van with 8" of clearance. I've heard great things about this lake and would love to give it a shot but its a bit of a drive to have to turn around.

Thanks in advance

The road up to Red is graded regularly so 2wd access is no problem. One of my favorite lakes in the area. There are some monsters in there but the lake can be fairly moody. The brookies early in the the season before the water warms up are delish!

The way in from 'Loops shouldn't be an issue, no matter what you drive.........the road in from Savona side, esp. the last 4km's, can get very "slimy" with any rain.
The boat launches require 4wd if your trailering a boat.
There was partial winter-kill there this winter, so any bigger fish are few and far between, but still lots of fair sized brookies in there, and fishing can be good.
Hopefully all the parties involved can get together, and agree to get approval to install an aerator in there.
