It's impossible to floss salmon when fishing from a boat?

Quote
many wading or bank bound anglers who fish for salmon along the Sacramento and other Northern California rivers will have to change their tactics this coming season. Recent regulation changes prohibit the use of long leaders, limiting the overall length to just 4 feet between any weight and the terminal hook, fly or lure.

or does the new reg not apply to boat anglers?

Flossing = me hungry,me no $ ,me eat fish, me no like sports fishing.
Maybe use a stick of dynamite.
Spear,cross bow,shot gun,spear gun....
Me cave man must bring home a fish so people will clap ;D
Sports fishing is the Art of catching a fish via lure fly bait & the end is pure bliss of nature in this great CREATION.
My Outdoor Buddy article is Trump like. Common sense in a F up world
20/20.
( natives should catch whatever numbers / method as long the runs continue )  ;)

Pure bliss is walking backwards dragging a sockeye 75 feet up the bank because you forgot to use your reel.

I am all in favour of the same sort of regulation here if it gets Chris et al all to shut up about flossing and dipping and blah blah blah. ;D

as all non FF anglers know with compete certainty - salmon and steelhead get flossed along the full length of a fly line regardless of it's weight, diameter and sink rate ... or even if it floats for that matter. Even all steelhead caught on surface flies are flossed! Fact is fly fishing for anything but bass and carp is a great big hoax!

So fly anglers will be blissfully unaffected by a 4 foot leader regulation. You can make a 1 inch regulation and we'll floss all the fish we can catch - in your beady little dreams anyway.

If only it were that simple - surely the regulation would have been changed already if it was that easy.

I'm all in for limiting the length of leader. I sure would make it a lot more safer out there but sadly the crowds would be larger than ever since it will take longer for anglers to short line their limit of Sockeye. Die-hards would never leave their spot until the got their parties limits.

The nice thing about leader restriction is that I personally would look for slacker water and go back to a 1-0z betty or even piece of pencil lead and free drift/swing the run/pool or use a float and drift the holes or use a flyrod.

Ban the long leader - I don't care. I just want to see Sockeye openings again.

Also tasty when they come from Safeway. When you work out the true costs, its much more cost effective to buy them at Safeway when they are in-season than going out there and fighting the crowds.

I still hope there is a Sockeye opening next season, however they regulate it. If not, I have other stuff to do.
