Title: Lower Vedder mud Feb 4!
Post by: 2:40 on February 04, 2005, 08:52:55 AM
Just talked (0845) to Chris G who was at Lickman Rd reporting the bad news on the river. He says he hasnt been up river and does not know the conditions there.

Passing on the message as requested!

Why does this always happen when I can get out for an afternoon??  :'( I was even going to be guided!  :'(

Thanks 2:40 Gordie for passing it on as it may have saved a trip for someone from this board planning to come. Hear it first on FWR. ;D ;D ;D

I just got back from checking up river and it is the Tolmie Slide that is doing most of the damage. Some also from Simpson Pit and the Willow run. Chilliwack River Action Committe will have to turn its attention to the WR when the work on the Tolmie is completed and funding can be obtained. It is slumping badly and the good thing is the river is presently away from it so it would be a good time to do the work on it. Will bring this up at CRAC's annual meeting coming up shortly.

When I was up river above the slides the conditions were fishable, how long that will remain is anyones guess. I saw a few anglers out and I only went as far as the washout.

I cleaned up a little garbage and found about $4 worth of bottles in a cache. ;D I was pleased to see what a great job the cleanup crews did on Saturday.

On the way back I noticed how the river cut to the left bank above The Crossing and crews have and are working on the road to the native reserve.

Backing up a little I met the Master at Lickman Road parking lot were we decided the lower will be out for a while, how long who knows we talked about the past weeks fishing as we compared notes he is around 23 for 31 so I am behind at 4 for 17 but he assures me some good fishing is just around the corner.?

Good to see and have a talk with Sassyboy and his partner as well, too bad they had to drive alll the way up from down valley to find the river out but they were heading up river so hope they find one. He will be able to give a report later I am sure if the river stays in.

On my return home I was pleased to receive my tape I filmed for Global of the Tolmie Clay Slides in it along with a note that my freelance fee is on the way. ;D ;D

With that in mind I am going to treat Nick and maybe 2:40 Gordie for lunch at Cookies of course, at 11:30. I am sure the Master will suggest a fishing trip somewhere after for us.

Some other good news, Nick tells me he is going to take Rodney when Rodney has the spare time on a fishing trip of a lifetime. 8) lucky guy, Nick is so appreciative of all the work Rodney does for the fishing community asnd the environment. I hope I get to tag along too.

Got to go lunch time.

O yes it poured last night Gooey and it still is. :(

Thank you for the update Chris. Saves me the gas for the weekend.
BTW as a welcome, excellent job here Rodney. I currently reside in Abbotsford and am a electrician by trade, Bass fish locally as well as Steelhead in the winter time. :)

Posts moderated. Ya it was ok, just stale. Once was funny, twice you get a chuckle, three+ times later people get tired.

Welcome, Bass Master.  Hmmm, bass,  we need a bass section, now that we have a bass specialist on board.  Bass is a good alternatives to the coarse fish. Rodley can have follow-up clinincs with the kids after pike minnow and white fish.   ;D
