No surprise.  Hopefully they will allow bar fishing for Chinook.

When they net the Fraser for Pinks, won't that catch a lot of these threatened sockeye?

The recent Fraser water temperatures are unreal. Forget fishing, let's hope the fish can get enough spawners to the spawning beds to maintain their runs for the future.  :(

most of the sockeye are usually long gone before pinks arrive in big enough numbers for commercial fishing.

The big runs this year are Harrison, Birkenhead and Chilco.  The first two peel off before the Fraser Canyon and so might not be impacted by high Fraser temperatures.  No joy for the Fraser rec. fishers though as these fish don't pass through the preferred catching area.

Yes , I hope they do to , open to bar fishing only , for springs . It's seems nowadays everyone is focused on Sockeye , Sockeye Sockeye . What ever happened to the good ole Bar rig fishing springs . Not so long ago DFO opened the Fraser June 1 st. we would hit the river with the heavy tackle box and rod , holder , chairs , tarp n beer  . Go relax ,socialize and wait for the bell . Wait for the bight . I just don't get it , but yah ! open it for barfing , for sure .  No bottom bouncing springs either ,spoons and bar rigs only !!!! .

They will likely close it to all salmon fishing if the temperature trend continues. The Province may do likewise.
